The Federation of Kompannaveediya Mosques

Affiliation of 10 mosques

The Federation of Kompannaveediya Mosques is an umbrella organisation dedicated to the welfare of the Muslim community in Slave Island, Colombo 02. The Federation was established by the management (trustees) of ten mosques in Slave Island area. The formation of Federation took place in year 2005, immediately after the Tsunami disaster. Much work was carried out by the Masjid Federation during the Tsunami disaster and one of the key project being building of a a masjid for Tsunami affected Muslims in Kirinda, Hambantota. During the time of disturbance in Mutur subsequent to the 'Mawil Aru' incident, the Federation donated over Rs.300,000 in response to the appeal made my All Ceylon Jemmiyathul Ulema, in order to provide relief to the displaced Muslims. Fifty five persons volunteered in Kanthle refugee camp for four days.

Other projects major projects carried out by the Federation are implementing collective Zakath system, provide support to uplift education in the area, pension scheme for retired Katheebs & Muazzins and health camps etc.

  6.  Shahul Hameediyah Jummah Mosque (Stuart St)
  7.  Al Masjidul Muhaiyadeen ( Union Lane)
  8.  Masjidul Badhiriya Ma'al Madhrasa (Wekande Rd.)
  9.  Abi Ubaida Jummah Mosque (Station Passage)
  10. Ukwathul Islam Jummah Mosque (Dawson St.)
